Dennis Cambell was a remarkable man, an exemplary naval officer, a brilliant mind, a warm and loving husband and father and an astute observer of human behaviour

This website celebrates his life and career, achievements and humour.

"I often think that one's performance or achievements should really be measured against the capabilities that one is issued at birth - and I'm sure that mine were not impressive. A now defunct highbrow weekly, in an article about the Ark's coming into service referred to me as "more of the don than the sea dog"!  Which I must admit is fair comment.  For I know I was not born with an aggressive or very decisive personality, being saddled with a hampering tendency to identify with both sides of an argument."
